Plumbing vehicle lettering kits, built for service trucks

Plumbing trucks live a hard life - chemicals, copper shavings, drain-cable grease, and the occasional sewage backflow. We cut mail-order vehicle lettering kits on the same 3M Controltac film commercial fleets use, sized for the service vans and 1-ton trucks plumbing contractors actually drive, with a layout that books service calls.

  • Door layout: company, phone, 24-HR EMERGENCY, license #, services
  • Fits Transit, ProMaster, Sprinter, Express, F-250/350, RAM 2500/3500
  • 3M Controltac vinyl - drain-cleaner safe once cured
  • Reflective upgrade for night and crawl-space-visibility callouts
  • USDOT add-on for crews over 10,001 lbs GVWR

Why plumbing trucks need lettering that survives the job

A plumber's truck gets sprayed with sewer machines, wiped with citrus solvent, and parked in gravel driveways under tree-sap. Cheap calendered vinyl from a generic online printer will crack inside a year - especially around the door edges where the squeegee laid down weak adhesion. We cut every plumbing kit on 3M Controltac IJ180mC, the same cast film used on Roto-Rooter and Mr. Rooter franchise fleets. Rated for 7+ years outdoor, removable without paint damage, and resistant to the chemical wipes you actually use in the field.

Lettering that flakes off in 18 months tells homeowners the company is sloppy. Lettering that still looks crisp at 5 years tells them the company plans to be around at year 10. That's the unspoken sales pitch your truck is making in every parking lot.

Layout for plumbing trucks and vans

Driver door: company name (largest), phone (second largest, easy to dial from 30 ft), 24-HR EMERGENCY or LICENSED + INSURED banner, license # (state-prefixed). Passenger door: mirror layout, with BBB / Master Plumber / PHCC credentials in the corner. Rear: centered logo plus a service bullet list - Drain Cleaning, Water Heaters, Repipes, Sewer Camera, Slab Leaks, Tankless Install.

On a F-250 or RAM 2500 with a service body, we lift the layout above the diamond-plate box and run a slim banner across the box itself. On Transit / Sprinter / ProMaster vans we use the full door height. The configurator handles all of this - you tell us the truck and we pre-space the kit to fit.

The compliance and credentials piece

Most states (NC, SC, VA, GA, TN, FL, and more) require licensed plumbing contractors to display their license number on any vehicle used for the business. The minimum size and contrast rules vary by state but 2 in. characters in a contrasting color is the safe default and matches the FMCSA standard for USDOT lettering.

If you're running a service truck pulling an enclosed jetter trailer or a dually with a slide-in tank, you may cross the 10,001 lbs combined GVWR threshold and need a USDOT number. We add it to the same kit for $20-$40 - cheaper than a roadside fix-it ticket.

Frequently asked

Will the vinyl survive drain cleaner and citrus solvent?
Yes, once cured (24 hours after install). 3M Controltac is rated for most field chemicals. Avoid soaking the edges in solvent and don't pressure-wash within 1 inch of an edge for the first 24 hours.
Can I put my Master Plumber and BBB rating on it?
Yes - state license, Master Plumber, BBB, PHCC member, Better Business Bureau A+, and brand authorizations (Rinnai, Bradford White, Navien) all fit in the standard layout.
Does this work on a service-body truck with a diamond-plate box?
Yes - we lift the door lettering above the box and add a slim banner across the box face. Tell us the truck and box at checkout.
Do I need a USDOT for my plumbing truck?
Only if the truck + any trailer combined is over 10,001 lbs GVWR (most service trucks are fine; dually + jetter trailer combos often aren't). When unsure, check your truck's GVWR sticker or ask your insurance agent.
How long does the install take?
20-30 minutes per side for a first-timer. Pre-masked, pre-spaced, squeegee and alcohol wipe included. We can also install on-site in central NC.
Can I add a QR code to my booking page?
Yes - QR sticker or NFC tap-to-book tag is a checkout add-on.
